The mural commemorating Zbigniew Wodecki appeared in Katowice not by chance. The musician known throughout Poland began his long career in Katowice at the Variete club on Korfantego Avenue. Moreover, Zbigniew Wodecki's father was the principal trumpeter in the Grand Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio (now NOSPR), while his sister, who still lives in Katowice, was an operetta singer in Gliwice. This year also marks 10 years since Wodecki's memorable concert at the OFF Festival in Katowice. Zbigniew Wodecki, together with the group Mitch & Mitch, dusted off the artist's debut album from 1976. The concert was phenomenally received by the audience, and people of almost every age attended his subsequent performances with the Mitch & Mitch group. Soon after, the concert album "1976: A Space Odyssey" was recorded. The collaboration was appreciated, and in 2016, the musicians won two statuettes at the Fryderyk Awards for the album.

The authors of the large-format painting are Marek Grela and Marta Piróg, forming the duo Czary Mury.
