On the mural by Lviv artist Bohdana Davydiuk, a question re-emerges that during wartime ceases to be a mere phrase: "Are you in a safe place?" The work was created as a visual interpretation of a fragment of a poem by Ukrainian poetess Yuliya Musakovska and tells the story of a world where home – previously associated with peace and shelter – can suddenly come under fire.

The piece features bombed buildings and people who have abandoned their daily lives and artistic activities to defend their families and country. In the context of Russian aggression, the question of safety takes on a heavier weight: it becomes an expression of concern for those who have lost loved ones, had to leave their cities, or live each day in a state of threat.

Bogdana Davydiuk comes from Lviv. She creates posters, book illustrations, and works in public spaces. She is a graduate of the Lviv National Academy of Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

The mural was created as part of the "Ukraine and Ukrainians in the City of Gardens" initiative. It is not only an artistic commentary on the war but also a record of an experience in which safety, home, and ordinary life cease to be taken for granted.
