The mural project involves depicting, on a monumental scale, an authentic drawing by a child created in one of the kindergartens near the Sośnica-Makoszowy mine during last year's miners' protests. The drawing was made by five-year-old Zosia, the daughter of a striking miner, who, like thousands of other mine workers, faced the threat of dismissal. Fifteen mines joined the protest action, which was one of the largest in recent years. More than a thousand miners protested by remaining underground, while others went on a hunger strike. "By participating in the union protest, I had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the situation of the workers in the Silesian mines and once again be convinced of the strength and value of the working class, so characteristic of this region." A simple, childlike drawing enlarged multiple times and transferred onto the brick wall of a Silesian building is meant to become a kind of spectre of the unemployed masses of people, which Silesia has been constantly experiencing over the past quarter-century and which remains alive in the current context.
